State and National Trade Organizations

I am working with some clients that are wanting to improve the quality of learning their state trade organization offers. The leadership would like to have better attendance from larger districts (over 6,000 students), a larger member base, and offer better continuing education during trade shows/meetings.
What are some of your best practices and favorite things about your trade organization? Business, Maintenance, or IT related.
