This past summer we invested $40,000.00 into brand new locks & keys (All schools uniform) as well as access card readers on limited doors at each building. Badges can be controlled and changed easily. We limited access times as well as individual access into the school buildings.
Obviously we have been met with backlash and pushback by staff as well as the community as to loss of access to the buildings.
At one point all the schools were keyed differently, using different locksmiths at each school! There was no control over who had keys as keys were duplicated and passed around like they were candy!
So.. I wonder if other districts are going through similar issues?
Access control and security are important issues for our administration and though the change is go, we are not relenting on the changes.
