You think you know when the peak times are- but how well do you really understand the cycle of work order requests throughout the calendar year? And just as important, do your customers, stakeholders, and staff understand as well? Now is the time to analyze and start thinking about how this cycle impacts your team and overall operations.d
This week's Chart of the Week reflects the % of work order requests by month. Intuitively we know the number of work requests slow down in the summer time, but we were surprised to see work requests almost double from July to August and rise again in September, for Public K-12 school districts. For Community Colleges and Public/Private Higher Education Institutions, June is the lowest work request month. Community Colleges don't have as much of an extreme jump in requests, while Public and Private Higher Education nearly doubles in work requests from June to August, then a steady decline through the rest of the Calendar Year.
Raising awareness with this chart won't likely change the cycle of when requests come in. But it can, when applied with your institutions work request data, help change expectations of your customers and stakeholders during the busiest months of the year.
