Ever notice that some labels for dropdown boxes in SchoolDude applications are red and some labels are black? There's a reason: red ones are for adding a new choice, or for viewing the history, of that dropdown box's options! Let's take an example of assets/equipment in MaintenanceDirect and ITDirect for work orders or incidents.
If the dropdown box is blank and you click the red label: it assumes you want to add a new asset or equipment item to the database.
If the dropdown box has a choice selected: it assumes you want to see the details and/or equipment history.
Clicking the label typically will open the page in a new tab or window of your web browser.
TRY IT! Open a new work order or incident in the long format. For the Location dropdown, do not pick anything and click the label. Then do it again, but this time, pick a Location and click the Location label. Notice the difference?
NOTE: if you add a new asset via the label link from the work order or incident page, you may have to refresh the page to see the new record as an option.
ADDITIONAL NOTE: this feature is for Supervisor roles and up. Technicians, Site Admins or Requesters will not have this function.
