As we saw last week in the first series of our IT Asset Management recap blog, a large majority of IT Directors and technicians are concerned about the time it takes to complete manual audits, the difficulty of hardware replacements, and software license compliance. Disparate systems for managing devices as well as lack of staff and resources only add to these concerns.
On our March 25th webinar, Michael Skott, the Technology Director at Middletown Public Schools, discussed his departmental challenges and how he solved them. You can view the full webinar recording featuring Michael Skott here. Read on for more of what he told the listeners.
Michael Skott’s 5,000-student district, located in Middletown, Connecticut, has 14 buildings that his 5-person IT team must service. Prior to SchoolDude, his department was using 3 different tools for asset management, network security, etc. The tools allowed only a limited number of devices, which proved problematic. In order to fully manage the district’s assets, Michael had to combine data from all 3 tools – inefficient and time-consuming to say the least!
Michael and his team were already using SchoolDude’s help desk solution to automate help desk ticket assignment. “With my small staff, we were able to get things done in the field quickly with automated routing,” Michael said. “This clued us into the asset management solution SchoolDude offered as well.”
Middletown implemented SchoolDude’s IT asset management tool, ITAMDirect. What have been the biggest benefits? Has it been device management? Software tracking? Incident reporting per device? All of the above?
