I recently had the pleasure of spending three days with the maintenance team at Stafford County Public Schools, VA. Rob Adams, director of operations and maintenance, and his team are an impressive bunch! They have been using MaintenanceDirect and PMDirect for only 18 months and have a very efficient work flow in place. When I stepped in, the team was ready to take it to the next level.
For years, they had been keeping paper copies of work orders that required inventory purchases attached to purchase orders, and filing them to keep a history of inventory purchases. One of the main things we accomplished while I was on-site was reworking the inventory purchasing work flow. Did you know you can attach purchase transactions to a work order in MaintenanceDirect? This is what the team at Stafford County will now be using to track their purchase orders. They will be saving time, trees, and filing cabinet space! In the near future they are hoping to reorganize their whole warehouse, keep more things in stock, and use InventoryDirect from SchoolDude to help them manage their consumable assets.
Not only did Stafford County establish this new process, but they are also busy defining priority levels in MaintenanceDirect (see DK’s blog plot for helpful hints on priority). They are looking at adding more descriptive classifications and types to their system to help them see exactly where their trouble spots are, and where they could use staff in the future.
Stafford County Public Schools team, thank you for your hospitality. I am looking forward to working with you all to reach the goals we set while I was on-site!
