Recently, SchoolDude and FacilityDude employees spent the day at Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s farm in Raleigh, NC. Volunteers eagerly helped feed chickens, gather eggs, feed goats, prepare the farm for daily operation, and built the foundation for a new greenhouse. Everyone had a blast getting their hands dirty to help end hunger.
Inter-Faith’s Farm has many educational opportunities including: tours, urban agriculture, community gardens, and young farmer training programs to teach young individuals how to operate a farm and build an agricultural career. The crops that are harvested are 100% organic and locally sold at the Raleigh Farmers Market. All proceeds go directly support the organization's operations.
What’s the impact? The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle s mantra is," Give a man a fish. Teach a man to fish. Stock the pond for all." They believe that education is the key for the entire community’s benefit and survival.
We, at SchoolDude, believe that hunger is unacceptable and we should band together to fight it. Volunteering at the farm was a wonderful experience for the Dude Family to align with Inter-Faith’s vision and serve the community.
