In a recent HigherEd TechDecisions article, reporter Jessica Kennedy emphasized why it is important for higher ed institutions to have a comprehensive mass notification strategy in place to keep students, faculty and staff safe when emergencies arise.
SchoolDude’s Nick Mirisis commented on how its CrisisManager solution can support a school’s crisis management strategy by publishing safety plans on individuals’ mobile devices. He also explained why mobile technology is a more effective way of getting an emergency message out.
“It’s surprising when we think about how much technology we consume in our personal lives that this one element institutions were still largely doing in a paper format…The moment you commit the safety plan and instructions to paper, it’s outdated tomorrow morning,” Mirisis said.
The article also spotlights how Providence College has successfully used CrisisManager to notify students of an emergency, offering plans on how to respond during that emergency.
