This week we want to explore what type of work is most frequently requested across each education segment. The "Top Work Performed by Segment" chart looks at the top 3 crafts for reactive (non-pm) work orders that have been completed/closed in calendar year 2012. We weren't surprised to see that HVAC shows up in all segments as one of the most frequently requested work orders. What is a little surprising at first glance, is that Plumbing came in as a top 3 craft for all segments, with the exception of Community Colleges (it shows up as the fourth most requested craft).
It is interesting to note that for all segments, 3 crafts make up a quarter or more of their overall requests. When we dive into the graph a bit, we can see differences in what type of crafts are requested between different education segments, (ex: Event Setup is more prevalent in Community College and Independent/Private institutions than in Public K-12 and Higher Education). There is also a notable trend among all segments that shows nearly half of all requests are made up of a total of 10 crafts or less.
At SchoolDude we’re working hard to help clients achieve success by studying how our All-Stars use the predefined craft list to categorize and report on the work performed. When setting up your crafts, remember that less is more. A short, concise list of crafts makes it easier for your customers to submit requests, and strengthens your reporting capabilities. If you need more detail on what type of work is performed, we recommend leveraging the Classification and Type categories, which are user defined fields and not visible on the customer request form.
