Upcoming Events start date default to today
Currently the Upcoming Events area is cookie driven, so as you stated, it remembers the last date range that was searched for. That was based on client feedback at the time the enhancement was built and deployed.

On the Home screen under the Upcoming Events display area, the default start date should be today and the end date could then default to 7 days later (max days). Currently the date range defaults to the previous date range entered, which could be a range that is not current. It seems to me that the purpose of this section is to show a snapshot of upcoming events, typically for a specific location and/or building.
A alternative would be to retain the values for the Location and Building, but automatically update the start date based on the current date and the end date to the current date + 7 days.
