Thanks so much for posting this idea! I've opened this idea up for voting, but I also wanted to show you that the Organization Event Calendar in FSDirect will allow you to block off location(s) for an entire break. This won't necessarily stop users from being able to add a recurring schedule during that time frame, but it will flag for conflicts against the break so you can easily see which dates the location will not be available. To enter events on the Organization Event Calendar:
Click on the Calendar tab
Hover over the Shortcuts menu and click on "Organization Event Calendar"
You can then create your event for one location or create for all of your locations by checking the "Create for ALL locations" box. Should you need to create an event that's not already there, click on the red "Event Title" text to enter a new event name.
