Yvette, Thanks for your idea regarding the Account Details By Building Report in UtilityDirect. Since its inception, the Account Details By Building Report has meant to be a flexible report that gives clients the ability to see the "big picture" for the entire Fiscal Year, but to able to get very granular if need be. The PDF version breaks each account down and then gives a total Use and Cost for each, with the Total Cost appearing at the bottom of the report.
When looking at the Excel version, it has a larger purpose. This version has served as a "Swiss Army Knife" type of report in the system. When one of the other 40+ reports will not work for what our clients are looking for, we suggest using the Account Details By Building Report as a template because it gives everything off of the Bill Entry page except Bill Determinants. This amount of data and flexibility allows for the possibility for making pivot tables and graphs, as well as more customized spreadsheets using simple to sophisticated formulas.
While we could add totals to the report, it would cause problems because the Unit of Measures are all different. KWH, Therms, and Gallons are all different and can be resolved by doing a pivot table/graph to get what is needed. Dollar amounts are all uniform and can be added together by selecting the column and using the Auto sum feature in Excel or the pivot table/graph option could also be employed. So, that is why the Account Details By Building report is built the way it is. I would suggest the Global Bldg. Use/Cost By Utility as it gives a Total for the Fiscal Year broken down by each Building and Utility Type for one or more years. If you need to build something bigger, then I would suggest using the Account Details By Building Report to do just that. I hope my answer helps!
