The start of a new school year brings very predictable rituals – opening buildings, hanging welcome signs in the doorways, prepping lesson plans, and going shopping for school supplies. However, many needy students are unable to afford even basic school supplies, making this a sad start to an otherwise happy occasion. To help children in Portland, Maine, SchoolDude was a proud supporter of the WGME 13 "Stuff the Bus" campaign – to ensure all students could kick off the 2009 school year on the right foot. WGME reports that their Stuff the Bus campaign was a success:

"Stuff The Bus A Success! Thank you to everyone who was a part of helping dozens of kids get the back to school supplies they need. This was our first year and we didn't really know what to expect but we did know there was a great need. It's always so wonderful to see how many generous viewers and businesses we have that continue to give. A big thanks to our business partners: O'Connor, EMS Portland, Target, DHHS, and SchoolDude.com. We are looking forward to a bigger and better next year!"
