CARY, N.C. (July 20, 2007) — SchoolDude client Rob Jindracek, who manages the energy conservation and utility management department at Broward County Public Schools in Florida, has been selected a winner of the 2007 Energy Leadership Awards. One of only two recipients in the Public Service Award category, Jindracek accepted the award on behalf of the more than 260,000-student district at the 18th Annual United States Energy Association’s Energy Efficiency Forum held in Washington, D.C.

The Public Service Award honors current or former federal or state non-elected government officials who have actively addressed and advocate energy efficiency in government operations.

“This award belongs to Broward County Public Schools and is a representation of the district and the board’s commitment to energy conservation,” Jindracek said.

Managing an annual utility budget exceeding $70 million, Jindracek’s staff is responsible for ensuring energy efficient operations, as well as maintaining building automation and security systems at more than 260 school facilities. By focusing on mechanical systems, electrical systems, water utility, gas utility, trash utility and alternative conservation measures, utility bills at the nation’s sixth largest school district have been reduced by $10.25 million.

With SchoolDude’s UtilityDirect web-native utility tracking and analysis system, Jindracek and his staff have benefited from easily auditing utility consumption and costs to identify savings opportunities for more than 2,000 utility accounts in the past year.

“Using UtilityDirect as our tracking system allows my staff to do a quick comparison and analyze the data for errors,” Jindracek said. “I’m impressed with the ease in operating UtilityDirect and the ability to allow unlimited users by being web-based.”

The Energy Leadership Awards were established in 1991 to recognize public officials who have provided exemplary leadership in instituting and advancing energy efficiency in the United States and abroad.
